What is Site Prep?
Piedmont Dirt Works will get your site ready to build. Site Prep can include a number of skills including Land Clearing and Vegetation removal, Grading and Leveling, Excavation and Soil Removal, Erosion Control and Sediment Management, and finally a Foundation or Slab to begin building.
Things to consider when preparing your site
Land Clearing and Vegetation Removal
This is one of the first steps in site preparation. It involves the removal of trees, shrubs, and other vegetation from the site to make way for construction. This process may also include stump and root removal to ensure a clear, flat surface.
Grading and Leveling
After the land has been cleared, it needs to be graded and leveled. This process ensures that the ground is even and ready for construction. It also helps with water drainage and can prevent future issues with the building's foundation.
Excavation and Soil Removal
Depending on the construction project, some parts of the land may need to be excavated. This could be for creating a basement, installing utilities, or preparing the ground for the foundation. The excess soil is then removed from the site.
Erosion Control and Sediment Management
To protect the site and surrounding areas from erosion, measures such as silt fences, hay bales, or erosion control blankets are put in place. This is especially important in areas prone to heavy rains or wind.
Foundation Preparation
This involves preparing the ground for the foundation of the building. It may include tasks like digging footings, installing rebar, pouring concrete, or setting up a gravel base for sheds and garages.
